INCHEON: track bike national champion, Azizul Awang recorded a personal best of 22.1 seconds in the men's team sprint event at the Asian Games 17th Incheon International Velodrome here today.
However, the trio involved Azizul Muhammad Edrus Md Yunus and Josiah Ng simply completing the fifth after recording a total time of one minute 02.077s.
"I managed to create a personal best in the first round. My time was good and also good acceleration.
"It is better than the time recorded in Britain and Germany before. I am now eager to resume following the race," he said today.
Azizul next race is sprint and keirin individual.
Trio of gold medals won by South Korea - Son Jeyong, Im Chaebin and Dongjin Kang while silver owned by Xu Chao, Hu Ke and Bao Saifei from China with Japanese trio won bronze - Tomoyuki Kawabata, Seiichiro Nakagawa and Kazunari Watanabe.
Meanwhile, Mustapa Fatihah and Jupha Somnet also finished fifth in the same event record 46.988s women's team.
China represented Tianshi Zhong Gong JinJie and won gold, while Lee-Kim Hyejin Wongyeong from South Korea to silver to bronze belonged May Hsiao Yu-Ting Huang Ying of Taiwan.
