Malaysia's Target 60 Per Cent Of Students Taking STEM Course | Recognizing the importance of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) for the development of future generations and countries, Malaysia is targeting 60 percent of students taking the course.

In fact, numerous government initiatives have already yielded results when the ratio of students in STEM and non-STEM field now reaches 42:58 compared to 25:75 in 2000. 

Malaysia's achievement shared Datuk Seri Najib Razak said at the launch of the Global Alliance STEM at the headquarters of the United Nations (UN) here. 

The Alliance is an initiative of the New York Academy of Sciences involving more than 70 governments, companies, NGOs, universities and schools. 

Establishment aims to help consolidate global participation and drive STEM education throughout the world. 

The Prime Minister admitted that investment in STEM involves huge expenditure, but the government remains committed to the future of the country. 

"STEM is the heart of modern life and the foundation for the prosperity of the country. Survival of the world depends on STEM," he said.
